Gourd Ball Birds

Teacher: Cara Bevan
Email: carabevan.art.heart@gmail.com

Description of Project: Someone's not going to be migrating, not when you're that fluffy! This class will teach you how to make adorable round "ball birds" with egg or bell gourds and epoxy clay. We'll sculpt each section - tail, wings, and head together. Then we'll paint them with acrylics and you'll leave with a finished chubby bird to keep you company.

Faux Cloisonne' Gourd Orb with Powertex and Unicorn Spit

Teacher: Susan Crowe
Email:
powertexart@bellsouth.net

Description of Project: A brand new Powertex project joins with my new favorite thing, Unicorn Spit! Do you love the beauty of enamel cloisonné but don't want to spend years mastering the art of wire and enamel work? Then let me teach you this crazy, simple technique that mimics cloisonné using an oven baked medium and Unicorn Spit glaze to create the look of baked enamel. And wait, there is more! We will also Tricx up our cannonball gourd to look like ancient, metallic glaze pottery using Powetex Transparent, Color Tricx metallic pigments, and plain old acrylic paint. Using the same oven baked medium we will fashion an elegant finial to complete our work of art.

Cost of Class: $45.00

Supplies needed: A box of disposable gloves. Paint brush for detail painting and one for larger area painting. A heat gun. An apron or smock. Paper and pen for note taking as desired.

Modern Poppy, wood burned and color pencils

Teacher: Debbie Wilson
Email:
artbasgo@gmail.com

Description of Project: You will learn how to wood burn an abstract of poppy flowers and leaves, some shading techniques will be taught to enhance the design. We will use a technique involving gesso and colored pencils for the coloring and learning how to blend colors. I learned this technique from Beth Westberry and am happy to pass it on. Black acrylic paint is used in the background to set off the colors. Hopefully you will leave with a finished product, if not we will be far enough into the project that you can finish at home with the instruction sheet with details will be given along with a pattern. I will provide a gourd, ready to use, instruction sheet, pattern sheet, tracing paper, blenders, mineral oil, gesso, acrylic paint, small brushes, ball point pen and have some colored pencils for class use, erasers, and I have 3 additional burners that may be reserved if you do not have one.

Cost of Class: $45.00

Supplies: Wood burner with a skew, round and a shade tips will work. I use Prisma Colored pencils, if you have any that you like , bring them. Apron and a ceramic plate/saucer or cup
