Triple Twine and Cedar Bark Gourd Basket By Marianne Barnes

A fun and easily woven gourd basket made with dyed round reed and cedar bark. Techniques include inserting spokes for weaving, triple twine weave [ three rod whale ], under over weave, a rolled border, and covering a rim for a decorative look.
All Skill levels

Instructor provides: Gourd, pattern with photos, round reed for weaving, cedar bark, philodendron sheath, pods, and waxed linen thread.
Student provides: bucket or tub to soak reed, spray bottle, scissors, apron, small towel, awl, or flat head screwdriver.

Pointillism is the practice of applying dots of paint on a surface so they blend together to form an image.The gourd is covered in tiny dots of color in a very relaxing process. Pattern ideas will be available.

In this class you will do a fun paint technique. Instructor will have different colors to choose from. You will do a design on the side with satin nylon trim cord in different colors with an assorted selection of beads. The rim will be finished with a blanket stitch using the trim cord.

Painted Bird and Flowers Birdhouse By Christine Pace

In this class you will reintroduce the gourd as a birdhouse....only prettier. Using water based acrylic paints you will add a design of a bird and flower[s] to an already prepped gourd. Using a clean birdhouse gourd that has the entrance hole and drainage holes already cut, plus 2 holes up top for adding a cord [ provided] to hang it by. A choice of patterns will be available to paint [ or bring your own]. You will seal your gourd for protection.
