You will take a 6 to 7 inch martin gourd that has been leather dyed, precut, and weave a basket on it.

Button and Bead Pine Needle Rim Gourd By Heather Seaman

Student will learn how to create a pine needle rim on a cut and prepared gourd. An assortment of large buttons, beads, and other items will be provided to embellish the rim.If you have a favorite button or bead you would like to use feel free to bring it.

Woven Lantern By Debbie Wilson

Learn how to coil and freeform weave to create a gourd lantern that uses a battery-operated flickering light for illumination. All the prep work will be done by the instructor; cut and cleaned gourd, dyed, holes drilled, painted inside, and protective poly coat applied. Many choices of colored round reed to choose from to color coordinate with your gourd. The finished product will be a usable 2 sided candlelight lantern. Color choices will be warm {red, yellow, orange, and brown } or cool { greens and blues } These options will be on the student application.

Creative Canteen By Susan Brooks

In this fun 4 hour class students will create a unique design on a cut and cleaned gourd. Using Alcohol inks, you will add color and do some light carving in areas for added interest. The completed gourd will then be assembled on a dowel and wooden stand for display.

Instructor will provide: cut and cleaned gourd, tutorial, ink dyes, design ideas, dowel, wooden stand, masks , gloves, and applicators
Student will supply: variable temperature wood burner with an outlining tip, a micro carver with a small wheel bit and small to medium ball burr. An apron to protect clothing or wear old clothes. [ there is a limited number of burners and carvers that we can share with students but we need advance notification ]
